BRW BUILDERS SELECTS RESORT INTERIORS
TO DESIGN PARADE HOME INTERIOR

BRW Builders has selected Resort Interiors and designer Darlene Arnette to design the interior of the company’s 3,402 square-foot entry in the 2003 Parade of Homes. The home, located at 685 Western Lake Drive in the lake district of WaterColor, will be open to the public during the Parade of Homes, June 21 – 29. Darlene Arnette of Resort Interiors designed the interior of BRW Builder’s winning 2001 and 2002 Parade of Homes entries. BRW Builder’s fully furnished entry for 2003 will serve as a model for the WaterColor subdivision.

“We are excited about working with Darlene and Resort Interiors again. Their interior décor was instrumental in our winning Parade entries the past two years,” says Dave Williams, President of BRW Builders. “This year’s home is one in which you will feel you are stepping back into time. The home’s select grade imported Brazilian cherry flooring, custom Brazilian cherry cabinets, period light fixtures and switches, porcelain door knobs and trim detailing are reminiscent of the early 1900’s.”

“The home, an elegant rendition of arts and crafts architecture provides a unique lake house environment,” says Arnette. “For the décor, I have chosen historical paint colors for the walls and trim to set the color scheme of rich reds, blues, golds and greens to complement the warmth and richness of the cherry used throughout the home.”

The home will feature select pieces from the new Martha Stewart Signatures Collection by Bernhardt, Accents Fraincais by Drexel Heritage, Ernest Hemingway by Thomasville and Bob Timberlake by Lexington. Some of the highlights of the house include a “crooked tree” accent table with travertine top placed between two red leather chairs in the living room. The dining room will feature a Toulouse table with a scrolled iron base and faux marble top from the Drexel Heritage’s Et Cetera collection. The table is set beneath a Tiffany Chandelier.

“The home features an eclectic mix of furnishings that create a sense of history and place,” says Arnette. “Ultimately as an interior designer, I want the space to look as though it has been collected over a long period of time. I love that sense of creating a history—so that when you walk in, you’re walking into a real place—your place.”

The home comes equipped with 3cm. granite and Corian counter tops, GE profile appliances throughout and energy-saving insulation, windows and air conditioning, all of which were not found at the turn of the century.
